Tata Motors Records Impressive Sales Growth in October 2023

Tata Motors secured the third position in the overall manufacturers’ sales rankings, selling 48,343 units in October 2023, representing a 7% increase from the 45,220 units sold during the same period last year. Compared to the previous month of September 2023, the company’s sales experienced a notable growth of nearly 8%.

Tata Motors’ total market share stood at 12.4%, down from 13.5%, reflecting a decline of 1.1%. The Nexon compact SUV emerged as the most popular model within the brand’s domestic portfolio, maintaining its position as the highest-selling SUV in the country. With 16,887 units sold, the five-seater SUV witnessed a 23% increase in year-on-year growth compared to the 13,767 units sold in October 2022.

The Punch micro SUV retained its second position, selling 15,317 units in October 2023, a significant 39% increase from the 10,982 units sold in the same month last year, marking the highest year-on-year growth among all models. The Tata Altroz premium hatchback also experienced positive growth, selling 5,984 units, up 25% from the 4,770 units sold in October 2022.

In contrast, the Tata Tiago entry-level hatch faced a sales decline, selling 5,356 units in October 2023, a 25% decrease from the 7,187 units sold during the same period twelve months ago. The Tata Harrier also experienced a year-on-year sales drop of 31%, selling 1,896 units compared to the 2,762 units sold in October 2022.

The Tata Tigor compact sedan’s sales also declined significantly, selling 1,563 units in October 2023, a 61% drop from the 4,001 units sold during the corresponding period in 2022. Similarly, the Safari’s sales decreased by 23%, selling 1,340 units compared to the 1,751 units sold in October 2022.

Tata Motors has introduced facelifted versions of the Nexon and Nexon EV, along with heavily updated models of the Harrier and Safari, and CNG variants of the Altroz and Punch this year. Looking ahead, the company plans to introduce the electrified Punch, Curvv EV, and other models in 2024.
