All India Bank Officers’ Association, headed by S. Nagarajan has asked its members not to attend office on Sunday – 27 September 2026. Recently, the Government has asked public sector banks to open branches on Sunday due to proposed strike from 28 to 30 September 2026. UFBU has allowed its members to attend office on Sunday as RBI has also permitted banks to open branches on Sunday.
UFBU has asked its members to attend office on Sunday, but AIBOA has taken the opposite route. AIBOA has asked its members not to attend office on Sunday. The circular from AIBOA is as follows.
So, the members of AIBOA will not attend the office on Sunday. Apart from this, a conciliation meeting was held between AIBOA and DFS on 23 September 2026. In the meeting, AIBOA requested the authorities to issue an advisory to close branches by 6 pm.
The late-sitting culture is increasing rapidly in banks. Most of the branches remain open till 8 pm or 9 pm. Due to this, female staff and other staff with family responsibilities suffer a lot. It seems this is the first time that such a demand has been raised in a conciliation meeting. In October 2024, the MD of Union Bank of India had advised completion of the day-end process (CSOLOP) by 6:00 PM and closure of branches by 6:30 PM.
