AIPNBOF is not in favour of Sunday working for bank employees. AIPNBOF GS Shri Krishna Kumar has said that the federation has already made its position clear to the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) on the issue.
Krishna Kumar has said that the organisation will take a final position on Sunday working after receiving and reviewing the official communication from the bank.
Krishna Kumar also said that, to protect the rights of its members, AIPNBOF may consider going out of UFBU over the issue. He added that the organisation is currently waiting for the official communication before taking a final decision.
He further said that the federation is waiting to see what compensation bank management offers employees for Sunday working. According to his statement, the existing compensation of Rs. 1,800 to Rs. 2,925 is inadequate for Sunday working.
Krishna Kumar said AIPNBOF will keep its members updated after the official communication is received and reviewed.
He also said that neither RBI nor Bank management has power to open branches for general banking transactions on Sunday which is a public holiday under NI ACT. The power to open branches rests with the central government and governors through gazette notification which has not been done yet.
