Jamshedpur, Jharkhand: On Thursday, in broad daylight, armed criminals robbed a Canara Bank branch in the Golmuri police station area and looted approximately 42 lakh rupees. The criminals took bank employees hostage at gunpoint and forced the manager at gunpoint to open the cash vault. They looted the cash and fled from the bank.
The incident sparked chaos within the bank premises. Police were alarmed upon receiving information about the daylight bank robbery. According to preliminary information, armed criminals entered the bank and took control of the employees. They threatened everyone with weapons and demanded silence. The criminals then led the bank manager to the chest and forced him to open it.
As soon as the chest was opened, the criminals seized the cash stored inside. After collecting the money, all the criminals exited the bank and fled. Upon receiving information about the incident, a Golmuri police team arrived at the bank. Senior police officers also arrived at the scene and questioned bank employees.
Police have inspected the scene and begun examining footage from CCTV cameras installed inside and around the bank.
Various police teams are conducting raids at possible hideouts to identify and arrest the criminals. Along with technical investigations, CCTV footage from nearby roads is also being examined to uncover the criminals’ escape route. This daylight incident has posed a significant challenge to the police regarding the city’s security.
