Customer Abuses and Threatens to Kill Staff of Punjab National Bank in Gorakhpur
On Wednesday, a bank customer abused and threatened to kill Punjab National Bank staff in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. He was angry as his loan was rejected by Punjab National Bank (PNB) Saital branch in the Bansgaon police station area.
He allegedly snatched loan documents from the branch manager, tore them, and threatened to kill the bank employees while abusing them. Following the incident, there is an atmosphere of fear among the bank employees. The branch manager has filed a complaint against the accused at the police station, demanding action and protection for the employees.
According to the complaint filed by branch manager Siddharth Jaiswal, Rahul Tripathi, alias Taklu Baba, a resident of Atrauli village, applied for a loan at the PNB branch in Saital. The application was investigated and field-verified at the bank level. The investigation found the customer ineligible for the loan. Consequently, the bank did not approve his loan.
It is alleged that Rahul Tripathi, upset over the loan not being approved, went to the bank on Wednesday. He discussed the loan with the branch manager. During this, he allegedly snatched the loan documents from the manager’s hands and tore them up.
The branch manager alleges that the young man also abused the bank employees. He then threatened to kill them. The sudden commotion frightened the bank employees. Following the incident, the branch manager informed the police and demanded action.
The incident has also raised questions about the bank’s security arrangements. The PNB’s Saitala branch is located approximately three kilometers from the Bansgaon police station. Despite this, no security personnel were deployed at the branch. Bank employees say that security arrangements could have helped control the chaos.
Branch manager Siddharth Jaiswal has filed a complaint at the Bansgaon police station, demanding legal action against the accused. He has also demanded adequate security arrangements for bank employees. Following the incident, employees are concerned about their safety.
Bansgaon town police station in-charge Vikas Singh Bhadoria said that the branch manager’s complaint has been received. The police are taking further action in the matter. After investigating the allegations made in the complaint and the facts surrounding the incident, action will be taken as per the rules.
In another update, on Tuesday evening, a bank manager of Union Bank of India was attacked by a loan borrower and his associates. The manager suffered a nose injury and suffered from bleeding.
