Numerous cases of fraudulent activities involving banks are surfacing in the district. In the Ramasanehighat police station area, a sum of 60,000 rupees was withdrawn from a woman’s account linked to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) without her knowledge.

Upon noticing the lack of any resolution at the bank, the woman lodged a complaint with the ASP (Assistant Superintendent of Police), prompting the registration of a case against unidentified bank officials at the Ramasanehighat police station.

Complainant’s Account of the Incident: Jagwanta, a resident of Bhitaraiya town, filed a complaint stating that she holds an account with the District Co-operative Bank in Ramasanehighat. On August 29, 2023, her account had a balance of 1,51,401 rupees. On October 11, 30,000 rupees were withdrawn from the account, leaving a balance of 61,622 rupees. However, without any prior withdrawal, an amount of 60,000 rupees was deducted from the account. When questioned, the bank officials mentioned a refund related to the PMAY, and the complainant revealed that her house construction remains incomplete.

Police Action: Omprakash Tiwari, the in-charge of the Ramasanehighat police station, informed that a case has been registered, and a thorough investigation into the entire matter is underway.
