Two masked robbers looted ₹10 lakh at gunpoint from the Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch in the Reico Industrial Area of Hindaun on Friday afternoon. The robbers managed to escape, prompting the police to block roads across the district and launch a manhunt.
Incident Details
The robbery occurred shortly after the bank cashier arrived at the branch with ₹10 lakh in cash from the chest branch. As per reports, two miscreants, disguised with shawls and masks, entered the bank and held the cashier at gunpoint with a country-made pistol. They seized the bag of cash and fled the scene.
The absence of a security guard at the bank raised concerns. It has been revealed that the previous guard retired six months ago, and no replacement had been appointed since.
Police Action
Upon receiving the information, a police team led by Additional Superintendent of Police Satyendra Pal Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police Girdhar Singh, and officers from Hindaun New Mandi Police Station and Kotwali Police Station rushed to the spot.
The police have set up blockades at various locations in the district and are actively searching for the culprits. CCTV footage from the bank shows the robbers wearing shawls and masks, which the police are using to identify them.
Aftermath
The incident left bank employees shaken, with one female staff member breaking down in tears. Authorities are questioning the employees and analyzing CCTV footage to gather more leads.
The police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity that could assist in locating the robbers.
