Robbery at Punjab National Bank in Indore, Robber fired inside branch and looted cash

In Vijay Nagar, Indore, on a regular Tuesday afternoon, a shocking robbery took place at a Punjab National Bank branch that has left the community rattled. Around 4:30 pm, a young man entered the bank armed with a gun usually used by security guards. He fired a shot into the air as soon as he entered, causing immediate panic among the people inside.

The robber then went straight to the cashier and threatened him with the gun, demanding all the money available. The cashier, fearing for his safety, quickly filled a bag with approximately Rs 6.64 lakh from the cash counter. Throughout the entire ordeal, the robber kept his face covered with a mask and wore a raincoat to hide his identity.

Witnesses outside the bank saw accomplices helping the robber escape on a motorcycle parked nearby. This coordinated escape plan further complicated the situation. Local police were alerted immediately, and they launched a thorough search operation across Indore. They are using CCTV footage from the bank and surrounding areas to identify the suspect and track his movements before, during, and after the robbery.

The incident has raised serious concerns among residents about the security arrangements in banks and the overall safety in the city. People are worried about similar incidents happening again and are calling for stronger security measures to be put in place.   1. The arms guards wherever posted are engaged in other work than their duty. They are generally not alert as such incidents happens only once in many years say decade. Most of the branches are without arms guard. This aspect has been examined by the industry and found on the basis of risk and return. Hence nothing will be done in this regard except security guidelines will be reissued
