PNB Bank Robbery Attempt in Fatehpur: Thieves Break Wall, Fail to Open Lockers
Thieves attempted to rob a Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch near the overbridge in Aung area of Fatehpur. The incident reportedly took place on Sunday. The thieves entered the bank by breaking through a wall from the fields located behind the branch.
CCTV Cameras Disabled
According to the CCTV footage, two masked youths entered the bank at around 2:15 PM. They were seen drinking water inside the bank before disabling the CCTV DVR. The thieves then searched the store room for several hours and reached the bank lockers. However, they could not break open the lockers and left the bank without stealing anything.
Incident Discovered on Monday
The bank opened normally on Monday morning. In the afternoon, a peon went to the store room after the printer ran out of paper. He noticed the damaged wall and immediately informed the bank officials. The matter was then reported to the police.
Police Start Investigation
Branch Manager Sanjay Sharma confirmed the incident. Police reached the bank and started an investigation. SHO Dinesh Shukla said that an FIR has been registered and efforts are underway to identify and arrest the thieves using CCTV footage and other evidence.
