The CBI Court in Lucknow, on 24.08.2026, has convicted and sentenced the accused Ajay Kumar Gaur, the then Branch Manager, State Bank of India, Shahupuri Branch, District Chandauli, U.P., to Four Years Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 90,000, in a bribery case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the case on 26.02.2018 against the accused Ajay Kumar Gaur, Branch Manager, State Bank of India, based on a complaint alleging that the accused Branch Manager, SBI demanded illegal gratification of Rs.50,000 (@ 5% of personal loan) from the complainant for sanctioning and disbursing of his personal loan of Rs.10,00,000.
Personal loan is generally provided to government employees only. The customer was not happy with illegal demand of the manager and filed a complaint with the CBI.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused Ajay Kumar Gaur red-handed while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs.40,000 from the complainant.
After completion of investigation, the CBI filed Chargesheet on 27.04.2018 and the Charges were framed on 09.01.2019 against the accused Ajay Kumar Gaur.
The Hon’ble Court, after the trial, convicted and sentenced the accused, accordingly.
Bank Employees should learn from this incident and stop taking bribes. A small amount taken from a customer may seem harmless today, but it can cost you your job, reputation, financial security, and even your freedom tomorrow.
