Thieves once again targeted a bank in Gorakhpur, creating panic among residents. This time, an attempt was made to rob the Bank of Baroda branch on Bank Road. The thieves managed to break into the bank by cutting through the grill and entering the premises, but they failed to break open the safe.
The incident came to light early in the morning when bank employees arrived and discovered the broken locks on the shutter and damage to the bank’s walls. Branch Manager Nalin Nitish immediately informed the police, who registered a case and began an investigation.
How the Attempt Was Made
According to the complaint filed by the branch manager, the thieves broke two locks on the bank’s main door to gain entry. Inside, they made an unsuccessful attempt to break into the safe, causing significant damage to the bank’s outer walls in the process.
CO Cantt Yogendra Singh stated that two police teams have been formed to investigate the case and identify the accused. “We are collecting clues from the site and are confident of arresting the culprits soon,” he added.
Series of Similar Incidents in Gorakhpur
This is not the first time banks and ATMs in Gorakhpur have been targeted. Over the last month, three major theft attempts have raised serious concerns about the security of financial institutions in the city:

Thieves tried to cut open an ATM in the Civil Lines area to steal cash. However, they could not reach the safe. While a case was registered, the investigation remains incomplete.
Concerns Over Bank Security
The repeated theft attempts have raised serious questions about the security measures in banks and ATMs in Gorakhpur. Despite the presence of CCTV cameras and alarm systems, thieves continue to breach bank premises, creating an atmosphere of fear among both employees and the public.
The police have assured residents that investigations are being expedited in all recent cases. However, the lack of progress has led to growing frustration and concerns over the safety of financial institutions in the city. Authorities are under pressure to strengthen security systems in banks and ensure timely action to prevent further incidents.
