In the calendar year 2023, MG Motor India achieved a significant milestone by selling 56,902 units, marking an 18% increase from the previous year and marking the company’s fourth consecutive year of growth.
During December 2023, the company reported retail sales of 4,400 units, indicating a 13% year-on-year growth compared to 3,899 units in December 2022.
MG Motor India highlighted an impressive 18% growth rate in the overall passenger vehicle (PV) segment, surpassing the industry average of 8-9% in the same sector. The company has now secured the position of being the second-largest electric vehicle (EV) seller in the country, with approximately 25% of its total sales attributed to EV models.
Notably, MG ZS and the Comet, the manufacturer’s flagship EVs, garnered positive responses from buyers, resulting in around 20,000 units sold to date.
Bajaj Auto: Number of Bikes sold
In a parallel development, Bajaj Auto reported a substantial increase in two-wheeler sales for December, with 1,58,370 units sold, marking a 26% year-on-year growth compared to 1,25,553 units in December 2022.
In terms of exports, Bajaj Auto experienced a three percent year-on-year growth, reaching 1,24,631 units in December, up from 1,21,499 units in the corresponding month of the previous year.
In the commercial vehicle segment, Bajaj Auto achieved remarkable domestic market growth, selling 32,549 units, indicating a substantial 41% year-on-year increase compared to 23,030 units in December 2022.
However, exports of commercial vehicles declined by two percent year-on-year, reaching 11,256 units in December, down from 11,432 units in December 2022.
