Bank Robbery: Bomb Exploded inside Bank of India Branch in Madhya Pradesh, Police SI injured

A major robbery attempt was reported at the Bank of India branch on Parasia Road in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh. The accused entered the bank while it was closed and tried to break into the lockers after cutting the shutter. However, the police reached the spot in time and stopped the robbery. But what happened after that is more shocking and fatal.

How Did the Accused Enter the Bank?

According to Superintendent of Police Ajay Pandey, the police received information at around 11:30 a.m. that the shutter of the Bank of India branch had been cut. The bank branch is located on the first floor, and police had to cross two shutters to enter the building. The accused had come fully prepared with a gas cutter, hammer, chisel, and other iron-cutting tools. He used the gas cutter to cut the bank’s shutter and attempted to break open the lockers and chests.

Accused Tried to Escape by Creating Panic

When police tried to enter the bank, the accused ignited a rope bomb (string bomb) filled with petrol. The bomb exploded, creating panic. Police said the accused wanted to scare the officers and escape from the bank.

Police Officer Injured While Catching the Accused

Despite the explosion, Sub-Inspector Narayan Baghel chased the accused. During the chase, the accused attacked him with a sharp dagger-like weapon. SI Narayan Baghel suffered an injury to his finger. Despite being injured, he managed to catch the accused. Additional police personnel reached the spot soon after, and the accused was taken into custody.

Attempt to Break Lockers and Set Fire Inside the Bank

During the investigation, the forensic team found that the accused had set fire to the bank’s file section. He had also tried to break open a locker, but the police reached before he could steal any cash or valuables. The accused had reached the lockers and chests but was unable to open them.

No Security Guard Was Present

Police officials said that there was no security guard posted at the bank when the incident took place. The accused took advantage of the absence of security and entered the bank. However, no cash or valuables were stolen because the police arrived in time.

Was More Than One Person Involved?

Initially, police suspected that two people were involved in the robbery. However, CCTV footage showed that only one person had entered the bank. Police searched the entire bank premises but did not find any other suspect. The arrested accused is being questioned to find out whether he had any accomplices. Further action will be taken based on the investigation.
