At least three miscreants have been booked after allegedly attempting to drill through the boundary wall of the Bank of India’s Pohir branch, officials reported. The incident was discovered on Sunday morning when villagers alerted bank officials about damage to the wall.
Upon reviewing CCTV footage, the bank staff confirmed that it was an attempted theft. The Dehlon police were informed and launched an investigation, registering a case against the unidentified suspects.
Branch Manager Chanpreet Kaur, 34, from New Janta Nagar, ATI Road, received a call from a bank employee on Sunday, who informed her about the damage noticed by the villagers.
Sub-Inspector Pardeep Singh from the Dehlon police station confirmed that the footage was examined, and a First Information Report (FIR) was filed. “Based on the CCTV evidence and the manager’s complaint, we are investigating the matter. Efforts are being made to identify and apprehend the accused,” Singh said.
The FIR was registered under sections 331(4) (lurking house trespass or housebreaking), 305 (theft), and 62 (attempting to commit offence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
