A theft that took place at the State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, has been solved, with six suspects arrested, including five juveniles. The theft occurred in the early hours of January 25, when the thieves broke into the bank by entering through the back. The police had registered a case on January 26, and Etawah’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Sanjay Kumar Verma, swiftly formed two teams to investigate the matter.
Thieves Arrested After Encounter
The police teams, led by Area Officer Atul Pradhan, SOG In-charge Jitendra Prasad Sharma, and Lavedi Police Station Head Kapil Chaudhary, uncovered key details about the incident. The stolen electronics were found hidden near Purana Bhatta Bahadurpur, where the thieves were preparing to sell them.
Upon receiving this information, the police acted quickly, surrounding the location and capturing five juvenile delinquents. Meanwhile, Ankit Chauhan, one of the thieves, attempted to escape by firing at the police and fleeing on a motorcycle. In self-defense, the police shot at Chauhan, who was later arrested after falling from his bike.
Theft Planned for Personal Gain
The incident occurred on the night of January 24-25, when the thieves disabled the bank’s alarm and CCTV cameras before stealing various electronic devices. During interrogation, Chauhan revealed that the robbery was planned to satisfy his girlfriend’s demands and his own personal desires, including a fondness for iPhones.
SSP Verma confirmed that all the stolen equipment had been recovered, and the case was resolved. The five juveniles and Chauhan were arrested and taken into custody.

SSP Verma also honored three constables for their role in the successful operation. Constables Nishu, Shubham Kumar, and Sunny were rewarded for their bravery and quick response during the investigation.
The case, which was registered at the Lavedi Police Station, has been a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to curb crime in the area.
