Punjab National Bank Manager in Aligarh submits resignation due to Toxic Work Culture
A Branch Manager of Punjab National Bank has submitted his resignation, citing toxic work culture in the bank. Neeraj Kumar Singh, working as Branch Manager at Punjab National Bank Bidhinpur, has submitted his resignation letter to the HRD department in the Head Office.
He alleged that the work environment in recent times had seriously affected his mental and physical health. He faced continuous excessive pressure, an atmosphere of fear and administrative behaviour that caused him severe mental stress.
The PNB Branch Manager said that he had sought medical advice when his health deteriorated and had also submitted relevant medical documents to the Bank. However, instead of considering his health condition with a fair and humane approach, administrative action was taken against him.
In his resignation letter, the officer clearly stated that his decision to leave the Bank was not based on personal choice. He said that the circumstances had made it difficult for him to continue working with dignity. Therefore, he submitted his resignation as a “Resignation Under Protest”. He also requested the Bank Management to keep this reason as the base for resignation as he resigned solely due to toxic work culture. His resignation letter is given below.

His wife has also filed a complaint in police regarding harassment of his husband by senior bank officials. Priyanka, wife of Neeraj Kumar Singh, has submitted police complaint that her husband is suffering from blood pressure and diabetes. Despite his health problems, he was allegedly repeatedly called for meetings at circle office and put under work pressure.
On July 1, 2026, Neeraj Singh was working at his branch when he was called to the Circle Office at around 3 PM for a meeting. The meeting reportedly continued until around 6 PM and he was harassed in the meeting. After his health worsened, he was taken to a hospital.
Neeraj Singh returned to his bank duties on July 2, 2026. Despite officials being aware of his health condition, he was again called to attend a meeting at the Circle Office. Neeraj informed the officials about his poor health and also shared medical reports and doctors’ advice. However, his health concerns were ignored and he was pressured to attend the meeting. She claimed that this increased his mental stress and further worsened his health.
On July 3, Neeraj Singh again went to the Bank for work. During the afternoon, his health suddenly deteriorated and he allegedly became unconscious. People present there helped him and he later regained consciousness. His wife alleged that the continuous work-related pressure had badly affected his mental condition.
In the police complaint, Neeraj Singh’s wife made a serious allegation that her husband attempted suicide. During the night, he allegedly attempted to hang himself using her dupatta. Luckily, she woke up in time and intervened and tried to calm and counsel her husband.
The wife alleged that on June 29, 2026, bank employees were made to work until around 10 PM. Such working conditions have seriously affected her husband’s health and family life. She has requested the police to investigate the matter and take necessary legal action against the officials allegedly responsible for mentally harassing and pressuring her husband.
