After SBI, PNB orders Branches to open on Holidays
Punjab National Bank has ordered branches to open on Holidays – 25 and 26 July 2026 for regularisation of PNPA accounts. This order has been issued in Muzaffarnagar region of PNB.

According to the letter issued on July 24, 2026, the branches have been ordered to work with the Branch Head and Loan In-charge to regularise PNPA accounts and upgrade fresh slippage accounts before the end of the month.
The letter says the branches should improve their performance in loan recovery and reduce bad loans.
This has triggered criticism among bank employees and union members. Bank employees have long been demanding the implementation of 5-day banking, similar to many government offices and financial institutions. Employees argue that despite ongoing discussions on the issue, staff are still being asked to work even on official weekly holidays to meet recovery and business targets.
Employees say such directives increase work pressure and affect employees’ work-life balance.
In another update, the State Bank of India (SBI) ordered to open 19 branches and AMCC in the Puri Region on Saturday, 25 July 2026, despite it being a holiday. Click here to read news.
