PNB Opens Special Window for Transfer and Dematerialization of Physical Securities
Punjab National Bank (PNB) has announced a special window for shareholders to transfer and dematerialize physical securities. The bank published the notice in Business Standard on August 19, 2026, following the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) circular dated January 30, 2026.
Special Window Open Until February 4, 2027
The special window is available for shareholders who hold physical securities that were sold or purchased before April 1, 2019. Eligible shareholders can use this facility to transfer their physical securities and convert them into dematerialized form.
The window will remain open for one year, from February 5, 2026, to February 4, 2027. The notice also covers transfer requests that were submitted earlier but were rejected, returned or not processed because of missing or incomplete documents or other issues.
KYC and Demat Account Required
Investors who want to re-submit their transfer requests must have an active and KYC-compliant demat account. They must also provide their Client Master List (CML) along with the required transfer documents and share certificates.
The transfer-cum-demat requests will be processed according to the applicable procedure mentioned in the notice.
Submit Documents by February 4, 2027
Eligible shareholders can submit their transfer requests along with the required documents to the Registrar and Share Transfer Agent (RTA) by February 4, 2027.
For PNB, the RTA is KFin Technologies Limited. The notice provides the RTA’s contact details for shareholders who need assistance with submitting their requests.
Securities Will Be Issued Only in Demat Form
PNB has clarified that securities re-lodged for transfer under this special window will be issued only in dematerialized form.
This means the securities will not be returned to shareholders in physical certificate form after the transfer process.
Requests After February 4, 2027 Not Accepted
The bank has stated that transfer requests submitted after February 4, 2027, will not be accepted by PNB or its RTA.
Therefore, shareholders with eligible physical securities or pending transfer requests should complete the process and submit the required documents before the deadline. The notice was dated August 18, 2026, and was published in Business Standard on August 19, 2026.
