A shocking incident of kidnapping and ransom demand has come to light involving the manager of Prathama UP Gramin Bank in Sambhalhera, Muzaffarnagar. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning around 11 AM when the bank manager, Sumit Kumar, was on his way to work.
According to the victim, Sumit Kumar, he was approached by three young men who asked him for a lift. Recognizing one of the accused, Shubham, who is his neighbor, Sumit agreed to let them into his car. However, after traveling a short distance, the situation took a terrifying turn. The three men allegedly pulled out a gun and a pistol, held Sumit hostage, and forced him to drive to a forested area in Mandawar.
Once in the forest, the accused brutally assaulted Sumit and demanded a ransom of Rs 30 lakh. They threatened to kill him and his son if he failed to pay the amount. Fearing for his life, Sumit agreed to their demands. The kidnappers released him on Thursday but warned him not to report the incident to the police, threatening further harm if he did.
Despite the threats, Sumit Kumar immediately informed his family after his release and filed a formal complaint at the local police station. The police have launched an investigation into the matter and are actively pursuing the three accused.
Sumit Kumar, a resident of Akhlaspur under Haldaur police station, currently lives in Gyan Bihar Colony. The case is being investigated by the Bijnor City Kotwali and Mandawar Police Station. Inspector Mridul Singh, in charge of Mandawar Police Station, confirmed that one of the accused, Shubham, lives near the victim’s house. He stated that the incident involved assault and ransom demands, and legal action is being taken based on the ongoing investigation.
The police are working to ensure the safety of the victim and his family while taking steps to arrest the accused and bring them to justice. This incident has raised concerns about the safety of bank officials and residents in the area, prompting calls for increased security measures.
