A female bank officer has been murdered in broad daylight in a posh area of Lucknow. At 12 noon on Thursday, a man called her and asked her to come outside ICICI Bank. The accused spoke with her for a while, then shot her and fled.
Hearing the gunshot, bank employees and nearby residents rushed to the scene. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead. The entire incident was captured on CCTV.
The accused was husband of the woman. He was working in State Bank of India. He also shot dead his sister after killing his wife.
The incident occurred outside ICICI Bank, 200 meters from the Gomti Nagar police station. Upon receiving information about the incident, officers arrived at the scene. A forensic team is investigating the case.
Divya Mishra was 33 years old and worked as a Relationship Manager in ICICI Bank. She was the sister of YouTuber Pragya Mishra. Divya had married Manas 12 years ago. The couple did not have any children. A year ago, she had filed a petition in court seeking a divorce from her husband, Manas Bajpai and had been living in Alambagh since then.
Manas Bajpai lived in a rented house near Husadiya Crossing with his sister, Seeba. He worked as a Field Officer at the Engineering College branch of SBI. Manas’s parents had passed away.
After killing his wife, he went straight to his home, two kilometers away. According to eyewitnesses, he was drenched in sweat. He locked the door, shot his sister and then he shot himself. Hearing the noise, neighbors arrived and opened the door. The brother and sister’s bodies lay soaked in blood. The Hanuman Chalisa was playing loudly on the TV.
Before committing suicide, the accused had posted the following status on WhatsApp:
“I killed my wife because she betrayed me. Now I have to kill myself and my sister too. Her sister Pragya and her husband Bharat Yadav know everything.”
Police are investigating the case and more details will be released soon.
