Ahmedabad: A customer attacked a bank executive at a public sector bank in the Rampura area of Detroj taluka, Ahmedabad district, after his loan application was rejected.
A 35-year-old bank employee from Chandkheda filed a complaint with the police. He stated that a businessman, also 35 years old, had applied for a loan to start a dairy farm. The businessman wanted financial assistance to raise livestock.
On Wednesday, the businessman visited the bank to ask about the status of his loan application. The bank had conducted a site inspection and later issued a written notice informing him that his loan application had been rejected.
The businessman became very angry after learning that his loan was rejected. He entered the bank forcefully and started questioning the employee about why his application was denied.
“I explained to him that his GST quotation was missing. Also, after assessing his house and business, the bank found that he did not meet the eligibility criteria for the loan. That is why the loan application was rejected,” the bank employee told the police.
Hearing this, the businessman lost his temper. He first smashed a computer monitor, damaging it. Then, he hit the ultraviolet machine, which is used to check currency notes.
After this, he started abusing the bank employee. The complainant stated in the FIR, “He attacked me with a stick and kicked me. He shouted, ‘You rejected my loan application. I won’t let you live today.’”
After the attack, the bank employee went to Detroj Community Health Center (CHC) for initial treatment. Later, he visited the Detroj police station and filed a complaint against the businessman.
The Detroj police have registered a case against the businessman under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which include:
