Punjab National Bank Chief Manager assaulted by Customer in Gwalior
After the Kiriyanch incident, one more Branch Manager of Punjab National Bank in Gwalior Circle has reportedly been brutally assaulted by a bank customer who is also working as a Business Correspondent (BC) for the same bank.
In Kiriyanch, a Senior Manager was beaten by miscreants on the road, and this time, a Chief Manager has allegedly been assaulted by miscreants inside his own cabin.
The shocking incident has been reported at the Punjab National Bank (PNB) Hazira Branch in Gwalior, where a Chief Manager was allegedly assaulted inside his cabin during working hours. The incident has sparked concern among bank employees regarding workplace safety and security.
According to reports, a business correspondent (BC) named Heeralal visited the branch on 20 May 2026 at around 12:30 PM. During a discussion, PNB Chief Manager Mr. Devendra Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, questioned the BC about his poor performance in areas such as account openings, PNB One registrations, and other business-related targets.
Reports suggest that the Chief Manager also spoke to the BC’s senior officer over the phone and informed him that the BC was not performing satisfactorily. He reportedly recommended that the BC should be removed from his duties.
Following this conversation, the BC allegedly lost his temper and slapped the Chief Manager inside his cabin. The entire incident was reportedly captured on CCTV cameras installed in the branch.
Customers and staff members present at the branch immediately intervened and tried to control the situation.
Soon after the incident, members of the AIPNBOA Gwalior unit reached the branch and the Circle Office to support the officer and handle the matter. AIPNBOA Gwalior Circle Secretary Shri Devbrat Singh Sikarwar and President Shri Ankur Srivastava also arrived promptly and assisted in managing the legal and administrative issues.
Although the matter has been reported to the police, concerns are being raised as more than 24 hours have reportedly passed and no FIR has yet been filed by the bank management against the accused person.
Why the bank has not filed an FIR to protect its employee is a critical question. If the employee is not at fault, then the bank should clearly stand in support of its employee, take strict legal action against the accused customer, and ensure that the guilty person is brought to justice.
The incident has created anger and concern among bank employees. Many employees believe that banks must take stronger steps to ensure the safety and protection of their staff. They say that if an employee is attacked inside bank premises during office hours, the organisation should take immediate and strict action to support its employees and maintain a safe working environment.
One year ago, the branch manager of Punjab National Bank (PNB), in Kiriyanch, Morena district under Gwalior Circle, was attacked by unidentified miscreants while returning home from the bank.
