Struggling with EMI Collections and Work Pressure

In his note, Tarun disclosed that his main job was to collect EMIs (Equated Monthly Installments) from customers in his area. However, he was continuously humiliated by his seniors for not meeting the set targets. This constant pressure pushed him to the brink. Despite working for Bajaj Finance for 8 years, Tarun feared he would lose his job because of his inability to meet the company’s recovery targets.

“I am very tense about the future. I have lost my ability to think. I am going,” read the note, as quoted by NDTV. Read his suicide note below.

Forced to Cover EMIs

Tarun also mentioned that he and his colleagues were forced to cover the EMIs that they couldn’t collect from their assigned areas. He expressed his frustration, saying he had repeatedly informed his seniors about the difficulties he faced, but his concerns were ignored. The work pressure took a toll on his mental and physical health, leaving him sleepless and stressed for weeks.

“I have not slept for 45 days. I have hardly eaten. I am under a lot of stress. Senior managers are pressuring me to meet targets at any cost or quit,” he wrote in his note, revealing the immense burden he had been carrying.

Heartfelt Message to Family

In addition to discussing his work struggles, Tarun left a heartfelt message for his family. He mentioned that he had already paid for his children’s school fees until the end of the year. In a poignant plea, he asked his parents to take care of his wife Megha and their two children, Yatharth and Pihu. He even requested his parents to build a second floor on their house so that his family could live more comfortably.

“You all take care of Megha, Yatharth, and Pihu. Mummy, Papa, I have never asked for anything, but am doing so now. Please get the second floor built so that my family can stay comfortably,” Tarun requested in his note.

Accusations Against Seniors

Tarun didn’t just express his personal struggles; he named his seniors in his suicide note, holding them responsible for his decision to end his life. He urged his family to file a police complaint against them, saying, “They are responsible for my decision.”

According to Tarun’s cousin, Gaurav Saxena, the pressure to recover loans had reached unbearable levels. He revealed that just hours before his death, Tarun had been in a video conference at 6 am where his seniors put him under further pressure, suggesting he wasn’t fit for the job and should be sacked.

Awaiting Police Action

As of now, Tarun’s family has not yet filed an official police complaint. However, senior police officer Vinod Kumar Gautam confirmed that they are waiting for the post-mortem report. He mentioned that the suicide note clearly states that Tarun’s seniors were pressuring him over his work targets, and if the family files a complaint, appropriate action will be taken.

Conclusion

This tragic incident highlights the immense mental strain that work pressure can cause, especially in high-stress jobs like loan recovery. Tarun Saxena’s story is a sobering reminder of the importance of addressing workplace stress and ensuring that employees have the support they need to cope with the challenges they face.
