Axis Bank Manager Faces Legal Action, Customer Claims Deed Withholding After Loan Repayment
A woman from the city’s Bank Colony has filed a complaint with the District Legal Services Authority, prompting the authority’s secretary/civil judge to issue a notice to the branch manager of Axis Bank. The notice also seeks a report by December 21. The next hearing in the case has also been scheduled for December 21.
Mamta, who lives near the Madhav Rao Scindia School in Bank Colony, operates Mamta Enterprises in the city. She took a loan of Rs 2 crore from Axis Bank’s Station Road branch for her business. She had deposited the original sale deed of her house with the bank while taking the loan. Mamta deposited the loan amount in the bank on October 17, 2023. After that, when she asked the bank to return the original copy of the sale deed, the bank also refused to close the account along with the original copy of the sale deed.
Mamta sent several notices to the bank, but the bank asked her to pay Rs 65 lakh to return the sale deed. The victim then filed a complaint with the District Legal Services Authority. The secretary/civil judge of the District Legal Services Authority, Amit Singh, heard the complaint. After hearing the complaint, the secretary/civil judge issued a notice to the branch manager of Axis Bank and sought a report on the complaint by December 21. The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for December 21.
