PNB issues Operational Protocols and Crisis Management Plan for Upcoming Bank Strike

Punjab National Bank (PNB) has issued Operational Protocols and Crisis Management Plan for the upcoming bank strike. PNB has asked Scale IV and above not to participate in strike otherwise disciplinary action may be taken against them.

To ensure minimal disruption to banking services and maintain financial operational continuity, PNB has asked its offices to follow the below guidelines:

1. Identification of Critical Branches and Critical Infrastructure and ensure that sufficient staff is deployed and the branches/offices are fully functional on days of strike.
2. 70% branches/offices under every Zone to be made fully functional on dates of strike.
3. SLBC/LDMs/Zonal Offices to give prior notice and coordinate with Police/Local Administration.
4. Scale IV above shall NOT go on strike, non-compliance of the same shall invite disciplinary action against them.
5. Initiate prior coordination with Bank of Maharashtra and Indian Overseas Bank who shall be keeping their Currency Chests fully operational on the day of strikes.
6. Preparation of Cluster of branches based on area of operation wherein at least few branches are operating in a single cluster.
7. Issue suitable and prominent notice at the non-operational branches to direct customers to branches operating in the same cluster.
8. Saturday and Sunday i.e., 26-09-2026-27.09.2026 maybe kept operational for the purpose of ATM replenishment. Suitable preparation to be ensured for that.
9. No leave or station leave to be sanctioned during the strike period except medical emergencies/unavoidable circumstances from 26.09.2026.
10. Identification of Non-Striking Staff and Scale IV Officers under your jurisdiction who can be channelized and deployed in Critical Infrastructure during strike period.
11. Identification of pool of staff who did not participate in the last strike and subsequently assess if adequate staff will be available at branches especially for critical infrastructure (like RCCs, Currency Chests, Cheque Clearing & Processing Centers).
12. CBS/application access rights, ID cards, authentication devices and other required infrastructure is to be provided to deputed/ non striking staff well before the commencement of the strike.
13. Additional cash to be maintained at Scale IV and above branches over and above the prescribed limit, if required, with approval of competent authority to meet exigencies and support nearby branches.
14. Advisory to be issued to customers to undertake essential cash transactions before the strike. Customers will be informed well in advance through SMS, e-mail, IVR, mobile/internet banking alerts, website and social media, print media to use Digital Banking, UPI, ATMs, IMPS/BNAs and BC outlets.
15. BC outlets to have adequate cash, connectivity and transaction limits. Consider enhanced BC cash limits wherever operationally and risk-wise permissible and wherever feasible, BCs to operate near the Branch, after taking due approval from the owner Division.
