Finance Ministry seeks help from Ministry of Home Affairs wrt to upcoming 3-day Bank Strike
Finance Ministry has sought help from Ministry of Home Affairs with respect to upcoming 3-day Bank Strike from 28 September to 30 September 2026.
In order to ensure the availability of essential banking services during the strike period, the Ministry of Finance has requested the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to issue suitable advisories to all States and UTs, sensitizing their law enforcement agencies to:
(i) provide adequate security cover, especially to banks’ critical infrastructure like Currency Chests, Cheque Clearing Processing Centres, Data Centres, Data Recovery Centres, Treasury Operations, IT Cell / Centre, Cyber Security Cell, ATMs etc.;
(ii) maintain law and order around bank branches and offices; and
(iii) ensure safety and security of employees who are not participating in the strike and attending office.
Further, MHA has also been requested that the State specific Intelligence inputs / report regarding the strike may be shared with Finance Ministry, with a copy also being provided to the respective States / UTs to facilitate monitoring of the situation and ensure smooth functioning of banking services.
The Department of Financial Services will closely monitoring the situation in coordination with the banks and the IBA.
