Zomato, known for its unconventional marketing strategies, has once again found itself at the center of attention, this time over a puzzling placement offer. An IIT Delhi research intern claims that Zomato initially offered a staggering Rs. 1.6 crore salary for an Algorithms Manager position during campus placements, only to withdraw it later.
Sharing a screenshot of the college’s placement notice, the intern, Hrithik Talwar, sparked an online debate with his post, “Zomato came to the campus, offered 1.6 cr salary, got the hype, and left.”
The authenticity of the high-paying offer was questioned by some, while others speculated it was a deliberate marketing ploy by Zomato. Some users expressed skepticism about the salary package, suggesting it may have been a typo.
Amidst the confusion, those who perceived it as a clever marketing strategy had their own interpretations. “Zomato got bored of trolling just on notifications,” commented one observer. “That was actually the gameplan – of creating hype,” suggested another.
However, not everyone found it amusing. Some criticized Zomato, calling it a “low move” if it was indeed a marketing stunt. “If Zomato did this as a marketing stunt, they should be ashamed of themselves,” remarked one critic. Another chimed in, “If it was actually a marketing hack, low move even by Zomatos desperate standards. I actually defended that ctc infront of my colleagues I j know this is being thrown on my face tomorrow at work.”
While the authenticity of the claim remains unverified, the original post has garnered significant attention online, leaving many wondering about Zomato’s intentions behind this unusual move.
