AIBOA Uttar Pradesh State Committee Holds 7th Conference in Lucknow, New Office Bearers Elected
The All India Bank Officers’ Association (AIBOA) Uttar Pradesh State Committee held its 7th Conference on July 26, 2026, at Comrade Prabhat Parwana Auditorium in Lucknow. The conference discussed several important issues concerning bank officers and employees, including bank privatisation, proposed consolidation of public sector banks, five-day banking, pension updation, compassionate appointments, outsourcing and labour codes.
The conference also elected a new team of office bearers for the upcoming session.
Senior Trade Union Leaders Attend AIBOA Conference
The conference was attended by several senior leaders and representatives. AIBOA Vice General Secretary Comrade D.S. Ganesan participated as the inaugurator, while AIBOA National General Secretary Comrade Vitthal Koteswar Rao attended as the chief guest.
Special guests and senior leaders included Dr. V.K. Singh, President of Uttar Pradesh Trade Union Congress; Comrade Uday Nath Singh, senior TUSC leader; Comrade R.K. Chhari, former General Secretary of AIBOA UP; and Shri D.K. Arjwani, General Manager of Central Bank of India.
During the programme, floral tributes were paid to prominent leaders of the bank employees’ movement, including Comrade H.L. Parwana, Comrade Prabhat Kar, Comrade Tarakeshwar Chakravarty, Comrade P.K. Menon and Comrade R.J. Sridharan. The conference was formally inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The guests were welcomed with garlands, turbans and mementos.
AIBOA Leaders Raise Concerns Over Privatisation
Speakers at the conference strongly criticised the Central Government’s privatisation policies. They argued that transferring public sector industries to private players would be harmful to the country and called upon employee and officer organisations to jointly oppose such policies.
Inaugurating the conference, AIBOA Vice General Secretary Comrade D.S. Ganesan said bank officers and employees were facing serious challenges.
Five-Day Banking, Pension Updation and Outsourcing Raised
Several long-pending demands of bank employees were also discussed during the conference.
These included five-day banking, pension updation, compassionate appointments, stopping outsourcing and concerns regarding the new labour codes.
Ganesan said bank employees might have to intensify their agitation to secure these demands. He also recalled the contribution of earlier bank union leaders, including Comrade H.L. Parwana and Comrade Prabhat Kar, to securing the rights of bank employees.
