Union Bank Customer Killed After Security Guard’s Gun Misfires at Delhi Branch

A customer was killed after a security guard’s gun reportedly misfired at a Union Bank of India branch in Delhi. The incident took place at the bank’s Issapur branch near Najafgarh.

According to police, Vinod, a resident of Majri village in Haryana’s Jhajjar district, served in the Army before retiring in 2018 and had been working with a private security agency for the past two years. Investigators said he was posted at the bank as part of his security duties. He has two sons — one is pursuing an MD course while the other is studying MBBS.

A case has been registered under BNS Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).

Gun Reportedly Misfired While Being Cleaned

According to initial reports, the security guard’s gun accidentally went off while the guard was reportedly loading the weapon inside the branch. The bullet hit a customer, who died due to the injury.

Following the incident, the security guard was taken into custody by the police. An investigation has been started to determine the exact circumstances that led to the firing.

A police forensic team reached the Union Bank branch and is examining the scene to collect evidence. Officials are investigating whether the incident was caused by negligence or any other reason.

The police are expected to provide more details after the investigation. Union Bank of India has not yet issued an official statement on the incident.

The deceased, Manish Kumar, a farmer, was a resident of Issapur village. He is survived by his elderly parents and five older sisters.
