During the assault, Sumer Ram was not only beaten but also threatened with death. The investigation into this serious matter began the following day, July 23. However, the situation took a turn for the worse when the manager was summoned to the police station to provide his statement. At the police station, the scene was highly intimidating. Several relatives of the attacker were present and, in front of the police, they made veiled threats. They warned Sumer Ram that if he didn’t agree to a compromise, his future and safety could be in jeopardy, suggesting that he might encounter trouble if he continued to press charges.
Adding to the distressing situation, local police have been pressuring bank staff to drop the charges and settle the matter privately. As of now, the perpetrator has not been arrested, and justice seems to be slipping through the cracks. We urgently need the support and solidarity of all staff members and the wider community. It is crucial that we come together to demand justice and ensure that the attacker is held accountable for his actions. This incident underscores a serious issue where violent behavior towards bankers is not met with the appropriate legal response, and victims are coerced into silence.
Your cooperation is vital in addressing this issue and protecting our workplace. Let’s stand united to ensure such actions are met with justice and that our safety is not compromised.
