The Reserve Bank of India has released the data on Overseas Direct Investment, both under Automatic Route and the Approval Route, for the month of July 2026.
The latest data from the Foreign Exchange Department, Overseas Investment Division, Central Office, shows a significant rise in India’s outward Foreign Direct Investment (OFDI) financial commitments in July 2026.
The total financial commitment stood at USD 5,705.42 million in July 2026. This was much higher than USD 3,148.99 million recorded in June 2026. It was also higher than the USD 4,887.22 million reported in July 2025.
Equity investment accounted for USD 2,019.42 million of the total financial commitment in July 2026. This was significantly higher than USD 776.17 million in June 2026. However, it was slightly lower than the USD 2,077.70 million recorded in July 2025.
Loan commitments stood at USD 876.24 million in July 2026. This increased from USD 587.55 million in June 2026. Compared with July 2025, loan commitments were also higher. The figure in July 2025 was USD 432.66 million.
Guarantees issued formed the largest component of the financial commitment in July 2026. The amount stood at USD 2,809.76 million. This was higher than USD 1,785.26 million in June 2026 and USD 2,376.86 million in July 2025.
The total financial commitment of USD 5,705.42 million in July 2026 includes equity investment of USD 2,019.42 million, loans of USD 876.24 million and guarantees issued of USD 2,809.76 million. The data is provisional and may change based on online reporting by Authorised Dealer (AD) banks. The figures are based on reporting made by AD banks in the Overseas Investment Division (OID) portal as of August 7, 2026.
