The Supreme Court declined to consider former ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar’s request for retirement benefits. A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and SVN Bhatti stated they wouldn’t intervene in the Bombay High Court’s earlier decision, dismissing the petition.
Kochhar’s counsel, Harish Salve, argued that the high court’s dismissal lacked any reasoning or findings. However, the Supreme Court, after reviewing the facts, saw no justification for interfering with the high court’s ruling.
Meanwhile, a separate Supreme Court bench postponed hearing a separate plea filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) challenging the grant of interim bail to Kochhar. The hearing for the CBI’s plea has been rescheduled for December 11th.
