SBI deploys mobile ATM services in flood hit areas in Tamil Nadu

Ravi Ranjan, Chief General Manager, State Bank of India, announced that the bank has deployed seven mobile ATM van services in flooded areas such as Velachery, Pallikaranai, Tiruvottiyur, Kasimedu, Royapuram , Ambattur, Avadi, and Red hills. Additionally, the internet banking facility and banking through SBI Yono app is functioning smoothly.

Flood reason

Cyclone Michaung hit several coastal states, especially Tamil Nadu and Odisha. Rains induced by the cyclone have caused severe flooding in Tamil Nadu, leading to the closure of schools and colleges in at least four Tamil Nadu states, cancellation of 15 trains to or from Chennai and damage to crops in Odisha.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to release in advance the central share of the second instalment of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) of ₹493.60 crore to Andhra Pradesh and ₹450 crore to Tamil Nadu, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday. Singh added that the Centre had already released the first instalment of the same amount to both States.
