In 2018, Sara Ali Khan made a remarkable entry into Bollywood with two films, ‘Kedarnath’ and ‘Simmba’, which were released within a few weeks of each other. However, during the filming process, a scheduling conflict arose when the dates for ‘Kedarnath’ were affected by changes. In order to resolve the issue, Sara’s management decided to allocate some of her dates to ‘Simmba’, which caused quite a stir.

Despite the initial turmoil, ‘Kedarnath’ managed to overcome its challenges and continued smoothly. However, director Abhishek Kapoor took legal action against Sara due to the scheduling conflicts. Recently, Sara opened up about this difficult time in an interview with Mayank Shekhar of Mid-Day.

Sara explained, “In May 2018, I was supposed to do Simmba. ‘Kedarnath’ was happening, and it was my debut film. Then, some dates were changed, and I also signed ‘Simmba’. As a result, there were 3-4 dates that coincided. And yes, I got sued for Rs. 5 crores (by the makers of ‘Kedarnath’)! I was very nervous because I didn’t have Rs. 5 crores.”

She further shared that this period was particularly challenging for her as her mother, Amrita Singh, was in Delhi as her father was critically ill, while her brother Ibrahim was in school. Meanwhile, Sara herself was served with a legal notice. She said, “I was like, ‘What should I do about this? I don’t even understand!’ I sent my management to court because I had to continue with my shooting commitments, and the makers of ‘Kedarnath’ were aware of this as they were present on set as well.”

Fortunately, the issue was resolved out of court soon after. Sara revealed, “Rohit sir (Rohit Shetty) and Gattu sir (Abhishek Kapoor) met in a room. Ranveer Singh (her co-star in ‘Simmba’) was also present, and he simply said, ‘Okay, then,’ and quickly left the room as it was a bit awkward.” Thankfully, a solution was reached swiftly. Sara explained, “The makers of ‘Kedarnath’ only needed three specific dates, and Rohit sir said, ‘Alright, take them!’ That’s how the case came to an end.”

Sara also shared the challenges she faced during this period, as she had to frequently travel between Hyderabad and Mumbai. She was shooting for ‘Simmba’ at night and ‘Kedarnath’ in the morning. Additionally, she mentioned that the equation between her and Abhishek Kapoor was strained due to the legal case. However, one day she decided to mend things by having her spot girl, Zarna, who made excellent coffee, prepare a cup for Abhishek Kapoor. Sara said, “After that, the shoot went smoothly.”

Finally, Sara made it clear that there is no animosity between her and Abhishek Kapoor. She acknowledged that he had his reasons for taking legal action, and they have moved past it. She stated, “It’s all good now.”
