Rekha Gupta, a resident of Jind, Haryana, will be the next Chief Minister of Delhi. She will take the oath of office tomorrow at 12 noon. Union Minister and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal has congratulated her on this achievement.

He wrote, “Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Rekha Gupta on being elected as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party after the party’s historic victory in Delhi. I have full confidence that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and your capable leadership, Delhi’s double-engine government will set new benchmarks in good governance and development.”

Early Life and Political Journey

Rekha Gupta comes from a family with a business and banking background. Her grandfather was a commission agent, and her father, Jai Bhagwan, was a bank manager. She developed an interest in politics from a young age and became actively involved in Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during her college years. Recognizing her dedication, the RSS proposed her name for the CM position, and the BJP accepted the recommendation.

Currently, the BJP governs 21 states, but none of them have a woman Chief Minister. Once Rekha Gupta takes the oath, she will become BJP’s first woman Chief Minister. In the recent Delhi Assembly elections, she won from the Shalimar Bagh constituency, defeating AAP candidate Vandana Kumari by 29,595 votes.

Rekha has been closely associated with RSS and BJP since the beginning. At present, she holds key positions as the General Secretary of Delhi BJP and the National Vice President of BJP Mahila Morcha.

Family Background and Ancestral Village

Rekha Gupta’s ancestral village is Nandgarh in Jind’s Julana constituency. Her grandfather Maniram and great-grandfather Gangaram lived there for many years. Around 50 years ago, the family ran a small shop in the village. Later, they shifted to Julana after opening a wholesale trading business.

According to Naveen Fauji, a resident of Nandgarh, the family’s old house, made of small bricks, was later sold to a villager named Chandram, who built a new house on the same land. The Jindal family also built a Shiva temple in the village, where family members visit every year for worship. Rekha’s uncle Rajendra still visits the village every month. The family is well-respected in the community.

Education and Personal Life

Rekha’s father, Jai Bhagwan, worked at the State Bank of India. In 1972-73, he was promoted to manager and transferred to Delhi, after which the family relocated to Delhi permanently. Due to this, Rekha completed her schooling, graduation, and LLB in Delhi.

In 1998, Rekha Gupta married Manish Gupta, a businessman in the spare parts industry.

Her appointment as Delhi’s Chief Minister will mark a historic moment for the BJP, making her the first woman CM from the party.
