Punjab National Bank (PNB), a leading public sector bank in India, has launched an environmental initiative called ‘PNB Palaash.’ This eight-month campaign aims to embrace sustainability by implementing measures such as energy and resource conservation, paper reduction, waste management, and streamlined digital processes. By adopting these practices, the bank expects to achieve cost savings and operational efficiencies.
Recognizing the importance of integrating sustainability into all aspects of life, Mr. Atul Kumar Goel, MD & CEO of PNB, emphasized the bank’s commitment to environmental-friendly initiatives. He stated that such initiatives not only align with their corporate social responsibility but also present significant opportunities for business growth. The primary objective of the ‘PNB Palaash’ project is to actively contribute to conservation efforts, encourage the adoption of sustainable practices, and promote employee engagement.
As part of this initiative, PNB aims to have each of its one lakh plus employees plant a minimum of two saplings. The campaign encompasses various themes, including the establishment of Digi Branches, a Green Data Center, financing for Electric Vehicles, Green Project Finance, Recycling Camps, Tree Plantation Drives, Paper Conservation Drives, Energy Conservation Olympics, and more.
This campaign is in line with the Reserve Bank of India’s vision of sustainable finance and the sixth iteration of the Enhanced Access and Service Excellence (EASE 6.0) initiative by the Department of Financial Services (DFS).
The launch event was attended by Mr. Atul Kumar Goel, MD & CEO of PNB, along with PNB’s Executive Directors, Senior General Managers at the Head Office, Zonal Managers, and other staff members of the PNB Pariwaar (PNB family).
