A video of a Mumbai police officer, identified as SF Gupta, dancing with a young woman in a local train coach has gone viral, sparking controversy and prompting disciplinary action. The incident occurred on December 6th, between 10:00 PM and 10:15 PM, while Gupta was on duty as a home guard tasked with ensuring the safety of women passengers during nighttime travel.
Initially, the video depicts Gupta responsibly guiding the woman, who was filming a dance reel with her daughter, to ensure her safety. However, the situation takes an unexpected turn when Gupta actively joins the woman in the dance, raising concerns about his conduct and professionalism.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) responded promptly by filing a default report against Gupta on December 8th. This action aims to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future and emphasizes the railway’s strict policy prohibiting staff from shooting, posing for videos/photos, or engaging in selfies while in uniform and on duty. Gupta has also been summoned to provide an explanation for his actions.
