The GST has completed 7 years in India and has created a remarkable impact in the India’s Taxation System.
Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections in India have shown a steady rise over the years. In 2017–18, the average monthly GST collection stood at ₹90,000 crore. This figure has nearly doubled in 2024–25, with average monthly collections reaching ₹1.84 lakh crore. A major milestone was recorded in April 2025, when GST collections hit an all-time high of ₹2.37 lakh crore, marking a 12.6% increase compared to April of the previous year.
This growth was mainly driven by a 25.2% rise in revenues from imports and a 13.7% increase from domestic transactions. These numbers highlight strong economic activity, with robust consumption and trade across various sectors.
