IndusInd Bank Allows Work from Home for Employees
IndusInd Bank – a leading public sector bank, had introduced a hybrid work model for some of its employees. Some of the employees have been allotted work from home facility.
Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged employers to allow work from home wherever possible to help save fuel and foreign exchange reserves, as the war in West Asia has caused a rise in crude oil prices.
A few months ago, the bank had conducted a pilot project. Employees from the technology, marketing, and human resources departments were allowed to work from home for two days every week.
Bank said that it received positive feedback during the pilot phase, and now it’s planning to expand this model across India.
In the first phase, the bank included departments where work-from-home arrangements were easier to implement. In the second phase, the bank expanded the model to more roles and functions.
The bank has now included “power naming functions,” which generally cover operational, regulatory, and digital functions that help the bank manage its operations and customer services.
However, this is not a complete remote working model. Employees will still have to stay in their base city and come to the office whenever required.
IndusInd Bank is not the first bank to adopt a hybrid work system. Axis Bank has been following a similar hybrid model since FY21 after the COVID-19 pandemic. Under Axis Bank’s policy, non-customer-facing employees are required to visit the office only two days a week.
Customer-facing and branch banking operations will continue to work mainly from offices and branches.
Meanwhile, public sector banks in India have not allowed any of its employees to work from home.
