IDBI Bank Cashier misappropriated Rs 1.21 crore from Bank and invested in Trading App

A case involving the misappropriation of Rs 1 crore and 21 lakh by the cashier at IDBI Bank has recently come to light. The branch manager of the bank has filed a formal report at the Manak Chowk police station, prompting the police to initiate a search for the suspected individual.

The report was submitted by Kishore Tanwar, the manager of IDBI Bank’s branch located near Kiran Talkies in Naharpura, Indore. Tanwar explained that Suresh Meena, hailing from Karoli in Rajasthan and the son of Badriprasad Meena, had been serving as the cashier at Laxmanpura since January 17, 2022.

Upon reconciling the cash deposits on August 10, 2023, it was revealed that the system indicated sum of Rs 1 crore 46 lakh 39 thousand 664 should have been present at the branch. However, only Rs 25 lakh 39 thousand 664 in cash had been received. This discrepancy highlighted a shortfall of 1 crore 21 lakh. When questioned, cashier Suresh Meena admitted to withdrawing a total of Rs 1 crore 21 lakh at various instances from both the cash counter and the secure vault. He held possession of the cupboard key.

A case of embezzlement has been officially registered against Suresh Meena by the Manak Chowk police station. Currently, efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the accused individual.
