Dhar, Madhya Pradesh: An FIR has been registered against Hitesh Ningwal, a cashier at the Bagh branch of Bank of India, over an alleged cash shortage of around ₹45 lakh. The bank manager filed the complaint on Monday. According to reports, Ningwal later surrendered before bank officials and was taken to the police station.
₹45 Lakh Cash Shortage Found
Bagh Station In-charge Heeru Singh Rawat said the cashier had left with the bank locker keys. The bank then arranged a duplicate key from its regional office. The locker was opened on Tuesday using the duplicate key. During the checking of cash and records, officials found a shortage of around ₹45 lakh.
The bank informed the police that the cash balance was ₹45 lakh less than the amount recorded on Saturday. Police have registered a case against Hitesh Ningwal for alleged fraud and embezzlement. The investigation is currently underway.
Cashier Found Near Khalghat
According to reports, Ningwal drove from Indore to Khalghat in his car on Sunday night. He reportedly felt unwell and went to a relative’s house in Nimrani, where he took medicine and slept. He woke up late on Monday.
While returning to Bagh on Monday afternoon, he was standing near his car in Khalghat. An employee of Bank of India’s Khalghat branch reportedly saw him and knew that he was wanted in connection with the case. The employee called the emergency number 112, after which Ningwal was taken to the police station.
Bank Branch Inspected
Bank officials, including LDM Balram Bairagi, inspected the Bagh branch throughout Monday. After the inspection and verification, the bank manager lodged the FIR at the police station.
Police are now investigating the alleged cash shortage and the circumstances surrounding the missing ₹45 lakh.
