In a recent development, the Uttar Pradesh Police has taken the decision to demote Deputy Superintendent Kripa Shankar Kannaujiya to the rank of constable. This decision comes three years after he was found in a compromising situation with a female constable at a hotel.
Kripa Shankar Kanaujia, who previously served as the Circle Officer (CO) Bighapur in Unnao, began his downfall when he went missing after taking leave in July 2021. Initially, he had requested leave citing family reasons. However, instead of returning home, he checked into a hotel in Kanpur with a female constable. He switched off both his private and official mobile numbers.
Concerned about her husband’s sudden disappearance, the CO’s wife sought assistance from SP Unnao. The surveillance team discovered that Kanaujia’s mobile network had ceased functioning after he arrived at the Kanpur hotel.
Prompt action was taken by the Unnao Police, who swiftly arrived at the hotel where they found Kripa Shankar Kanaujia and the female constable together. Crucial evidence was captured by CCTV cameras, providing concrete proof for the subsequent investigation.
Following the incident, a comprehensive report was submitted to the government. After careful review, the government recommended that Kripa Shankar Kanaujia be reverted to the rank of constable. The ADG Administration promptly issued an order to implement this decision, resulting in the demotion of Kripa Shankar Kannaujiya from his previous position as Deputy Superintendent to his new assignment at the 26th Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) battalion in Gorakhpur.
