Bank Employees have started mass resigning from unions
Due to the deferment of strike by UFBU, bankers have started resigning from their unions. UFBU suddenly deferred the 3-day strike which was proposed to be conducted from 28 to 30 September 2026. Late night, UFBU released a letter and informed bankers about the deferment of strike.

A group of SBI employees from the Jhotwara IA branch in Jaipur has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the decision to defer the proposed bank strike. In a letter dated September 28, 2026, addressed to the Convenor of the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), the employees said they were disappointed by the sudden decision to postpone the strike, particularly because bank employees had prepared to participate in the agitation with full support.
The employees said that the decision to defer the strike at the last moment had affected their confidence in the union leadership. They questioned the postponement of the agitation and said that bank employees had been expecting concrete action on the long-pending demand for 5-day banking.
According to the letter, the employees have given the union leadership a deadline of October 31, 2026 to obtain a clear and written assurance from the management or the government regarding the implementation of 5-day banking. They have demanded that any assurance should be concrete and in writing rather than being based only on verbal commitments.
If the unions are not able to fulfill these conditions, the bank employees will mass resign from union.
