Banker’s Story shared by S Viswanathan
I was the head of a branch located in the city of Coimbatore. On a fateful Saturday night, I received a distressing phone call informing me that one of my deputy managers had not returned home, causing great anxiety among his family members who were desperate to know his whereabouts. Shortly afterward, his son reached out to me, stating that all the lights inside the bank premises were on, yet the premises were locked from the inside. Concerned, he wondered if his father was trapped inside as the phones were not functional at that time. It was worth noting that our branch did not have any security personnel on duty.
Without wasting any time, I hurried to the premises and took the necessary steps to break open the door. As I entered, a wave of disappointment washed over me as I discovered my colleague’s lifeless body hanging from a ceiling fan in the book room. The sight was distressing, and it left me profoundly shaken.
In the aftermath of this tragic incident, I found myself grappling with sleepless nights. I had to navigate through the challenging process of completing the required formalities, which included informing the authorities and cooperating with the investigation. The burden of grief and the weight of responsibility weighed heavily on me as I endeavored to support my team and help everyone involved come to terms with this heartbreaking loss.
