The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has announced a Dharna before Parliament on March 3, 2025 (Monday) as part of its ongoing agitation. The protest will take place at Jantar Mantar, off Parliament Road, New Delhi, starting at 10:30 AM, with participants required to assemble by 10:00 AM. The event is expected to conclude by 3:00 PM.

Bank Employees all over the nation are protesting against the non-fulfillment of their demands. The most important demand of 5 days Banking has not been fulfilled yet. The 12th BPS was signed in March 2024 but still government has not introduced 5 day banking. Apart from this, Banks are suffering from huge staff shortage and UFBU has requested government to look into it. The demands of Bank Employees are:

  • Adequate recruitment in all cadres
  • Regularise all temporary employees
  • Implementation of 5-day work week in banking industry
  • Defend job security
  • Withdraw DFS directives on performance review
  • Withdraw DFS directives on PLI
  • Protect bankers, ensure safety
  • No more assaults & abuses! Secure workplaces for bank officers & staff now
  • Fill up the post of workmen/officer directors in PSBs
  • Resolution of residual issues pending with IBA
  • Raise gratuity ceiling to ₹25 lacs & make it tax-free – parity with govt employees now
  • Stop unfair taxation on staff welfare. No income tax recovery on concessional benefits – let management bear the cost
  • Safeguard national interest, retain 51% govt equity in IDBI Bank

Following the Dharna, UFBU will serve a Strike Notice, mobilizing all unions for an intensified two-day nationwide bank strike on March 24 and 25, 2025. The forum has called for physical and virtual meetings across all levels to ensure full participation and success of the strike across the banking sector in all states. More updates on the agitation and strike preparations are expected in the coming days.
