A social media post asserts that the Cabinet has sanctioned an amendment to the Negotiable Instrument Act, allowing banks to adopt a five-day working week starting January 1, 2024.

Recently, Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad said in Rajya Sabha that Indian Banks Association (IBA) has submitted proposal of five day work week for banks to Ministry of Finance. But he did not tell whether government has accepted it or not.
