A passenger on Indian Railways has raised concerns about the justification of paying extra for AC first class when ticketless passengers overcrowd the coach, causing inconvenience for paying customers. Swati Raj posted a video from her journey on Mahananda Express on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), depicting the corridor of her AC first-tier coach filled with men.

The video reveals numerous men packed into the corridor, standing closely side by side. Raj commented, “This is the current situation of AC 1st tier in Mahananda 15483. I request management to check this immediately as we are not feeling safe when we are paying extra for it.”

In the comments section, she mentioned that the Railway Police Force did respond when contacted. However, the police personnel couldn’t clear the rush as the train stopped at that particular platform for only two minutes. The Mahananda Express operates from Delhi to Alipur Duar Junction.

Swati Raj suggested having a permanent security presence inside trains to address instances of passenger misbehavior. She wrote, “The problem is RPF should be present inside the train to handle these kinds of situations. From the outside, they can’t do much.”

Earlier this month, a similar video depicting “ticketless” passengers encroaching on an AC second-class coach went viral on social media. Indian Forest Service officer Akash Verma shared the video with the caption: “A friend traveling in train 12369 shared this video of AC 2 coach hijacked by ticketless encroachers who are harassing passengers, occupying their berths, pulling the chain. Passengers, mostly senior citizens, need immediate sanitation.”
