Varanasi court has issued a notice of attachment against Congress leader Roshni Kushal Jaiswal for failing to appear in court. The notice relates to a case of alleged assault and misconduct with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporter Rajesh Singh in the Premchand Nagar Colony, Lalpur Pandeypur, on September 15, 2024.

Background of the Case
The case was registered based on a complaint by Rajesh Singh’s wife, Anu Singh. According to the complaint, Roshni Jaiswal and her supporters confronted Rajesh Singh at his home, accusing him of making obscene comments on her social media. Allegedly, this led to an altercation where Roshni and her supporters physically assaulted Rajesh Singh and vandalized his property.

Court Declares Roshni Jaiswal as “Absconding”
The case is being heard in the Civil Judge Senior Division court. Advocate Vivek Shankar Tiwari, representing Anu Singh, stated that the court has taken a serious stance due to Roshni’s repeated absences. Since the police have been unable to locate her, the Varanasi court has now declared Roshni as “absconding.” The court has instructed the investigation officer to post the notice of attachment at Roshni’s residence and in other public areas.

Notice to be Announced with Drumbeat
In an effort to ensure compliance, the court has ordered that the notice of attachment be announced with a drumbeat while pasting it at Roshni’s house and other public places. This step is intended to increase public awareness of the case and apply further pressure for her appearance in court.
Incident Sparks Protest by BJP Supporters
Following the incident on September 15, Rajesh Singh was called in for questioning by the police. This led to a protest by BJP supporters who gathered at the police station, demanding action against Roshni Jaiswal and her supporters. The protest continued late into the night until senior police officials intervened.
Arrest of Roshni Jaiswal’s Husband, But Roshni Remains Elusive
Later that night, Joint Police Commissioner S. Channappa took charge of the situation and arrested Roshni’s husband. However, Roshni herself was not located and remains at large. The police are actively searching for her, while the court proceedings continue in her absence.
