The All India Union Bank Officers Federation (AIUBOF) has raised serious concerns about the behavior of Mr. Jaya Raju S., Region Head at the Kancheepuram Regional Office, accusing him of misconduct, intimidation, and derogatory remarks against officers under his supervision. The officers are now protesting, demanding swift action from Union Bank of India’s management.

In a formal letter addressed to the bank’s Managing Director and CEO, the federation outlined multiple incidents involving Mr. Jaya Raju, including a recent review meeting on October 8, 2024, where he allegedly threatened a Regional Development Officer (RDO) with the remark, “I will not hesitate to slap you in front of everyone.” The letter also references an audio clip that has since gone viral, in which Mr. Jaya Raju is heard shouting at staff, saying, “You are all thick-skinned people; I know how to melt your skin and I know how to melt your fat.” Additionally, he reportedly questioned the integrity of employees by asking, “Are you eating food or something else?”

These incidents, as per the federation, have not only caused severe humiliation and intimidation but also violated the bank’s recently released Code of Ethics. The code emphasizes respect, dignity, and humanity in the workplace, all of which, the letter asserts, were disregarded by the regional head’s actions.

The AIUBOF has requested the following actions from the management:

  1. Internal Investigation: A thorough probe into Mr. Jaya Raju’s conduct, considering available audio and social media evidence.
  2. Disciplinary Action: Necessary steps against Mr. Raju, including suspension or removal from his position.
  3. Legal Action: Potential legal proceedings for criminal intimidation, harassment, and defamation.
  4. Reputation Management: Swift action to address the reputational damage caused to Union Bank of India due to the viral nature of the incidents.

The federation emphasized the importance of addressing this issue promptly to maintain the integrity and dignity of Union Bank’s workplace. The protesting officers are now awaiting a response from the management, hoping for quick and decisive action to restore confidence among employees and uphold the bank’s values.
