Teacher Hit by Car in Budaun, FIR filed against SBI Junior Associate

In Badaun, India, a teacher was hit by a car and dragged for several meters. The teacher, Prasun Maheshwari, suffered a fractured leg in the accident. He is being treated at a private hospital.

The accident occurred on December 14, 2023. Maheshwari was standing at a crossroads in the town of Dahgawan, waiting for a ride home from Omprakash Rajbala Inter College, where he teaches.

A speeding car coming from the direction of Sahaswan hit Maheshwari. His foot was caught under the car, and he was dragged for several meters. The driver of the car did not stop, but continued to drag Maheshwari until bystanders were able to stop the car and apprehend the driver.

Police arrived at the scene and took Maheshwari to a community health center. He was then taken to a private hospital by his family.

The driver of the car was identified as Umashankar Pratap Singh, a junior assistant at the State Bank of India. Maheshwari’s father, Aadesh Babu Gupta, has filed a complaint against Singh.

The incident is a reminder of the need for road safety measures in India. There are an estimated 1.5 million road accidents in India each year, resulting in more than 400,000 deaths.
